China’s Direct Selling Market is Growing

Over the past decade, China has seen a boom in direct selling companies. Tax revenue from these companies has hit over 30 billion Yuan ($4.7 billion), according to the Ministry of Commerce, and it will simply continue to grow as more and more money flows into the country. As of now, China has 71 direct selling companies that are employing over 2.8 million people and both numbers are growing rapidly. Everything is being sold from cosmetics to medical supplies and as the economy and country continues to grow, it only makes sense that these sorts of direct selling companies will grow as well.

In 2014, direct selling alone paid 5.7 billion Yuan in taxes and had revenues reaching 25.1 billion Yuan. This speaks not only to the success of the network marketing plan and the Chinese desire to sell, but also to the Chinese desire to buy and better their own lives. Due to this explosion in direct selling and multi-level marketing, the Chinese Ministry of Commerce has announced that it is going to strengthen its supervision over this market so that consumption can be increased and more people can find employment in these companies. With the added safeguards of governmental supervision making sure practices aren’t corrupt and are following the law, it can only be assumed that network marketing and direct selling are simply going to continue to increase.

Direct Selling Has Huge Potential in India

India is a country that poised on the edge of massive growth, both in terms of population and in terms of economics and GDP. Actually, India has already been booming and if this path continues, it doesn’t seem as though it will stop any time soon. The population is young and hungry and looking to change both their situations as well as the situation of their country and their families. Because of all of these circumstances, India is an almost perfect place to start a direct selling business and, as seen in recent news, the direct selling companies that exist there have been doing incredibly well for themselves and their associates.

A recent report from KPMG, one of the largest tax and auditing services in the world, goes far to show just how much potential direct selling has in the Indian market place and economy. The report says that the direct selling and multi level marketing industry has the potential to become a 645 billion rupee industry by the end of 2025. Not only is this a huge number with the potential to help the Indian economy grow on a more localized level, it’s also a market that has continued potential for further and further growth.

Indian culture is very community and family oriented. With a population that is growing quickly and a culture that is so focused on people close to you, direct selling is a fantastic way to make money for yourself and your family while working together towards a common goal. While the KPMG report doesn’t go any further than 2025, it’s easy to assume that the more the Indian population grows, the more potential direct selling and multi level marketing have to improve the lives of thousand, if not millions, of Indians and their family and friends. While all of this remains speculation and has to be seen before official decisions can be made, this might be the perfect time for people who are ok with risk to get involved in the Indian direct selling market.

Direct Selling’s Economic Footprint Keeps Expanding

On June 1st, the Direct Selling Association held it’s annual 2015 meeting regarding the impact and performance of direct sales companies around the country and how they affect the US economy as a whole. Once again, the impact that MLM and direct sales companies have on the economy has continued to expand, proving that these are vital parts of the US economy. The meeting was full of good news, especially in regards to the fact that the direct selling business continues to grow both in terms of profit numbers as well as the number of individuals who are involved in either selling or buying products.

One of the most important numbers released pertains to the volume of retail sales. The volume of retail sales from direct selling companies rose 5.5% from 2013 to 2014 to $34.47 billion. Not only that, but the number of people involved on both sides of direct selling also drastically increased. After an increase of 8.3% between 2013 and 2014, the number of people involved in direct sales has broken 18 million. This is easily the highest amount of people to ever be involved in the direct sales business and it goes to show that the industry is growing and becoming more and more important to both sellers and consumers around the country.

During his speech to the audience, Joseph N. Mariano, the Direct Selling Association’s (DSA) president, reiterated just how important direct selling is to a wide variety of Americans, regardless of background and education. Young parents, military spouses, retirees, and students are just some of the population groups that rely on direct selling to make ends meet and enjoy an improved quality of life. Along with the numbers regarding sales and individuals involved, the DSA also released the top 20 direct sales companies of the year, including names like Herbalife, Amway, and USANA Health Sciences, Inc (who’s founder recently became a billionaire after stock prices soared). Direct selling companies have continuously been on the rise in recent years and this most recent annual meeting just goes to show that they continue to be a vital force in the American economy. They provide jobs and commercial opportunities for people who may not have the time or energy for a full-time, sit-down job and allows them to add to the economic growth of our country. If the current trend continues, I can only see bright things in the future for both multi level marketing and direct sales.

Direct selling refers to the $30 billion industry in which products are sold away from a fixed, brick and mortar store. The benefits to the consumer are obvious, but the benefits to the seller are what we are concerned with presently. So let’s take a look at some of the benefits of being a part of a direct selling company.

Firstly, there is usually a low cost of entry. Opening your own business is an extremely expensive and risky venture. You can invest your entire life savings into a store and have it all crumble around you. There are taxes, utilities, fees and a million other ways that a store front will drain cash. Beyond the intense financial commitment, what if no one comes in? That leads us to the next benefit of direct selling.

By selling directly to the customer, away from a physical store, you are bring the product to them. Let’s think about this from the buyer’s perspective. You walk into a store and see hundreds or even thousands of products all along the walls and aisle. Often, the sales person working doesn’t really have the expertise to discuss specifics about products. It’s not even their fault, really. Who could keep track of a thousands of different pieces of merchandise? With direct selling, you can concentrate on the core products your company is selling and bring them directly to the consumer.

Another benefit of a direct selling strategy is you can establish your own hours. If you want to take a day off to go visit family, you don’t have to check with anyone to make sure it’s OK. You get to choose how much or how little time you want to invest into your career as a direct seller. Granted, the more you put in, the more you will get out, but it is nice to not have to answer to anyone about what you did last Tuesday.

These are just a few reasons why direct selling is a great fit for many Americans. It is certainly true that you need motivation and desire, but the tools to success are right in front of you. All you need is a good company to work with and a product you believe in. The rest is up to you!
